Photo Validation

What is Photo Validation?
Photo Validation is a new, faster and more seamless way to begin your visit to Universal Islands of Adventure — you just scan, smile and go!

How is Photo Validation being used at Universal Islands of Adventure?
Photo Validation is used to verify tickets and ticket holders at Park Entry at Universal Islands of Adventure.
Learn more about Photo Validation

Are Guests required to use Photo Validation?
Using Photo Validation is optional. You may opt out at Park Entry, or at Guest Services. If you decide to opt out of Photo Validation, you will continue to enter the park using the same lanes as guests who do use Photo Validation. Adults who decide to opt-out will be required to present a Photo ID to validate their ticket.

What data does Photo Validation collect?
We take a photo the first time you use your ticket. From that photo, the software builds a Photo Template. A Photo Template is a unique set of data points based on facial features. On subsequent entries to Universal Islands of Adventure, a new Photo Template is created and will be compared to the stored template to validate your ticket or other entitlement.

How long will Photo Validation data be stored in your system?
Photo Templates and images will be stored for no longer than six months after the expiry of the associated ticket or other entitlement. This is consistent with our entrance finger scan process.

Resort Access and Tracking Technologies

Do you use RFID technology in your parks?
Yes, you may be provided with a card containing an RFID chip that interacts with RFID scanners throughout our parks. We use this information to control access to our park entrances and attractions as well as to improve your experiences in the parks.

What are Bluetooth beacons and how are they used at Universal Orlando Resort?
At Universal Orlando Resort we constantly work on providing new, and exciting, technological experiences and encounters for our guests. Throughout Universal Orlando Resort and Universal CityWalk Orlando, there are certain locations where we may install Bluetooth beacons. Bluetooth beacons use a low-power Bluetooth signal to one-way communicate data via our Universal App. Bluetooth beacons “check in” your device when within proximity. If your mobile device is enabled to receive Bluetooth Low Energy signals, it can communicate with the Bluetooth beacon when installed by receiving a code which will unlock location-specific content and experiences in our Universal App to enhance the guest entertainment experience while at Universal Orlando Resort or Universal CityWalk Orlando. You may elect to enable or disable Bluetooth Low Energy signals at any time by changing the Bluetooth Low Energy settings for the app on your mobile device. Universal may also provide ways within our Universal App to toggle off specific notifications, via the app settings on the main menu (three lines at the top left corner of the app; tap the Settings cog icon).

Park Security Monitoring

Do you use security cameras in the parks?
Yes, we monitor and record certain locations throughout our parks to confirm your security and improve your guest experience.

Park Photography Locations

Do you take photographs of guests in the parks?
Yes, certain locations may capture candid photographs of our guests as they experience our parks and attractions. For more information on our photography locations, please visit the My Universal Photos webpage here.

Universal Volcano Bay Photo Sales Counter Kiosks

What are these kiosks?
These kiosks from our photography provider, Colorvision, utilise facial recognition technology to help find your photos from your day at Universal Volcano Bay. The kiosks and this service are located near the Photo Sales Counter at Waturi Marketplace within Universal Volcano Bay.

Are Guests required to use this service?
Using the kiosks and this service is completely optional, Guests who do not wish to use the kiosks and this service to find their photos can still view and purchase their photos by speaking to a Team Member at the Universal Volcano Bay Photo Sales Counter.

What data does the service collect?
A reference photo is taken at the kiosk. From that reference photo, the technology searches the Universal Volcano Bay photography system and displays your matching photographs. The reference photo and associated template information created to search the Universal Volcano Bay photography system are deleted after 24 hours, or upon your request on the day of your visit.

How long will reference photos be stored in your system?
Reference photos taken for this service and associated template information are securely stored and deleted after 24 hours. Therefore, a new reference photo must be taken each day of your visit. You may also speak with a Team Member after using the kiosk to remove a reference photo taken at the kiosk on the same day of your visit, however a new reference photo will need to be taken if you wish to use the service again.
