Conditions Of Entry
For your safety and enjoyment of Universal Orlando Resort™, please note the following:
- All visitors must pass through metal detection before experiencing CityWalk or the Theme Park.
- All bags, backpacks, purses, packages and items are subject to X-ray and/or additional inspection prior to entering CityWalk or the Theme Park(s). Suitcases and bags with wheels are prohibited.
- We recommend you leave unnecessary articles in your car and secure valuables in your trunk.
- Trained Service Animals are welcome to Universal Orlando Resort. Animals who do not meet the definition of a Service Animal will not be permitted in the park. Service Animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the Service Animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.
- Guests under the age of 18 without passes to the theme parks (or separately ticketed events, as applicable) are required to depart at 8 p.m.* unless they are accompanied by a parent/guardian or staying at a Universal hotel, have documented reservations at a CityWalk restaurant or have purchased tickets for Hollywood Drive-In Golf or Universal's Great Movie Escape. A Universal Orlando Team Member will be available to assist guests under the age of 18 looking to purchase tickets for a specific venue or event at or after the designated departure time.

Prohibited Items
- Any type of explosive, weapon, item that can be used as a weapon or has the appearance of a weapon is prohibited
- Alcohol
- Marijuana, or any item containing Cannabis or related paraphernalia
- Illegal items or substances
- Clothing likely to create a danger, incite a disturbance or displaying offensive language or content
- Clothing or accessories that represent someone as emergency personnel or that may create a false impression of employment by Universal
- Power driven devices such as Segways (unless utilized as an ADA mobility device), Hoverboards, Drones or any other radio frequency controlled device
- Selfie sticks are permitted at Universal’s discretion but must be properly secured and not in use on any rides or attraction
- Any other items Universal personnel deem to be inappropriate, disruptive or harmful
Outside Food And Drinks
We offer a variety of food options at all of our restaurants and concession stands. However, we understand that guests may need to bring outside food and drinks. Please note the following guidelines:
Acceptable Items
- Bottled Water (maximum 2 liters)
- Small snacks that do not require heating
- Any food required for medical purposes and medically-indicated nutritional supplements
- Any food required for special dietary needs
- Baby food/baby formula
- Soft-sided insulated bags no larger than 8.5" wide x 6" high x 6" deep
Prohibited Items
- Glassware or glass containers
- Open containers or drinks containing alcohol
- Hard-sided coolers
- Soft-sided coolers larger than 8.5" wide x 6" high x 6" deep
- Picnic lunches; any food that requires heating or refrigeration; folding chairs
Universal Orlando Resort Hotels
For your safety and enjoyment of Universal Orlando Hotels, please note the following:
Guests are not permitted to have any type of explosive, weapon, item that can be used as a weapon or has the appearance of a weapon, illegal items or substances within Universal Orlando Hotels. This includes guest rooms and public areas within all resort hotels.
Smoke In Designated Areas
In accordance with Florida Amendment 6, all restaurants and bars that serve food are smoke-free areas. Smoking is permitted only in designated areas.
Each Universal Orlando Resort theme park has one designated smoking area:
- Universal Studios Florida’s area is located in Gramercy Park.
- Universal Islands of Adventure’s area is located in the Port of Entry lower landing.
- Universal Volcano Bay’s area is located in Wave Village (East).
- Near each theme park’s exit
- Lower lagoon landing in front of Hard Rock Cafe® Orlando
- To the left of Red Coconut Club
- Outside of Universal Cinemark and Hollywood Drive-In Golf™.
All other areas outside of the designated smoking locations are smoke-free. Please note that e-cigarettes and vaporizers are treated the same as tobacco and only permitted in designated smoking areas. Additionally, marijuana is prohibited at Universal Orlando Resort.
Hurricane Policy

Q: What is your policy for travel during Hurricanes?
A: In the event that a hurricane or tropical storm warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center or a state of emergency is declared for the Orlando area or in your place of residence, within seven days of your arrival, you can contact our team in advance to reschedule or cancel your Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations Package, hotel room only accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets booked directly with Universal Orlando, without any cancellation or change fees imposed.
If you have purchased airline tickets as part of your Universal Parks and Resorts Vacations package, you may still be subject to cancellation and change fees assessed by those airlines.
Guests calling to cancel or modify bookings must be 18 years of age of older.
We want you to feel safe and will work with you directly to best accommodate your needs. If you have additional questions or need to change or cancel your travel plans, please contact a member of our Guest Contact Center team by calling 877-801-9720.
Q: If I booked my travel through a travel agent, tour operator or other third-party supplier, will Universal Orlando Resort help cancel my trip, including airline, rental car and other third-party related elements?
A: Universal Orlando is only able to assist with cancellations on your Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations hotel accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets (booked directly with Universal Parks and Resorts).
If you have purchased Universal Orlando products and services through third-party suppliers, travel agents or tour operator, including airline, rental car and other third-party related elements, please contact them directly for information regarding their cancellation or change policies and procedures. The policy does not apply to certain special events, dining experiences or group related bookings.
Costume Guidelines
Please see the following Costume Guidelines:
- No costume masks, veils, long trains, live animals, swords or weaponry are permitted. Face coverings worn for medical or health reasons are permitted. Any home-crafted wands must be rounded on either end and must be appropriate in nature.
- Costumes cannot exceed 28” (inches) wide x 80” (inches) high to meet Universal Orlando’s metal detection regulations. Costumes are subject to secondary x-ray screening. Universal Orlando will have sole discretion to decide whether an item is permissible. Any item deemed inappropriate will be turned over by the owner and may be retrieved at the end of the day at the Universal CityWalk hub.
- If a guest is spotted in a costume that is not deemed permissible, he or she will be asked to either remove the costume and change into something more appropriate, or exit the park.
- Costumed guests may not give the impression that they are Universal Orlando Team Members.
- To ensure guests' safety, some costumes may not be permitted on certain attractions.
